Find out more about the area
Canada Water is a freshwater lake and wildlife refuge that’s going through a rapid period of regeneration that will eventually see a new waterfront town centre along with shops, restaurants, parks and a new King’s College campus. The area has a rich heritage - it was once a dock for Canadian ships (hence the name) and its distinctive history is present today in the form of converted industrial warehouse-style buildings that blend with new urban hangouts.
There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and have drinks with friends. Both the shopping centre and leisure park at Surrey Quays are nearby too where you’ll find a number of well-known restaurants and retailers as well as an Odeon cinema and Hollywood Bowl.
This part of south-east London has something to suit every lifestyle - from the art and music shows in Printworks London to the cocktails and street food across the road at Street Feast. If you’d rather get back to nature or soak up the waterside location there are plenty of ways to do that too. Winding walkways along the riverfront are a great way to explore, as are the numerous cycling routes. The Surrey Docks Fitness & Watersports Centre is also less than a mile away where you can partake in an exercise class. You can also reach Southwark Park in just ten minutes. This beautiful park has been awarded Green Flag status and has an expanse of outdoor space to enjoy as well as a café, art gallery, a boating lake and sports facilities.
